There is a book that I think is completely underrated that I have not heard anyone in the book blogging community talk about and that is Blind by Rachel DeWoskin.

When Emma Sasha Silver loses her eyesight in a nightmare accident, she must relearn everything from walking across the street to recognizing her own sisters to imagining colors. One of seven children, Emma used to be the invisible kid, but now it seems everyone is watching her. And just as she’s about to start high school and try to recover her friendships and former life, one of her classmates is found dead in an apparent suicide. Fifteen and blind, Emma has to untangle what happened and why – in order to see for herself what makes life worth living.
Unflinching in its portrayal of Emma’s darkest days, yet full of hope and humor, Rachel DeWoskin’s brilliant Blind is one of those rare books that utterly absorbs the listener into the life and experience of another.

When I first saw this book in Barnes and Nobel I was immediately drawn to it. The cover with its lifted up Braille and the prospect of what can you see when your world goes dark stuck in my mind. When I read the book I was not disappointed, I loved it!

However, when I would go on Goodreads I would see some mixed reviews and wondered how could a book I so completely enjoyed be a book that was simply an alright story for others? So I decided to recommend this book to you here in the hopes that you all will enjoy this one as much as I do.

Something that handles the process of becoming blind and going through that kind of hardship needs to be discussed. So I ask you to read this book and take a chance on it. It is a really underrated and awesome book!

Thanks for reading! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

-Till next time!

    1. So true! It made me sad, but also happy that I got that initial attraction to Blind. It’s partly why I try not to read reviews of a book I’m thinking of reading. It tends to change my thoughts on a book and I like to go into a book well.. blind. 😊

  1. I have never even heard of this! But it sounds super interesting and unique (I can’t think of any books off the top of my head that deal with the subject of blindness)! Thanks for the recommendation I might have to check it out!
