Synopsis:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author KAMI GARCIA (Beautiful Creatures) and artist GABRIEL PICOLO, the creative duo behind the New York Times bestselling graphic novel Teen Titans: Raven, comes the romantic meet-up we have all been waiting for!

It seems like years, but it’s only been a few days since Raven Roth recovered her memories, trapped her demon father, Trigon, into her amulet, and had her heart broken for the first time. But she doesn’t have time to think about the past…she has to focus on finding a way to get rid of Trigon for good.

Garfield Logan still can’t believe he has powers that allow him to change into different animals, but the price of knowing that his parents kept this secret hidden from him just feels too high. And what’s more, his difficulty controlling these abilities could have unexpected consequences.

Both are seeking answers from the one person who seems to have them all figured out: Slade Wilson.

When their paths converge in Nashville, Raven and Gar can’t help but feel a connection, despite the secrets they both try to hide. It will take a great amount of trust and courage to overcome the wounds of their pasts. But can they find acceptance for the darkest part of themselves? Or maybe even love?

Opening Page:

Musings:

Beast Boy Loves Raven tells the story of how Beast boy, Robin, and Raven all meet. This is the first appearance Robin makes in these comics.

Robin is a mostly serious character who knows what he is doing. He is smart and tactical and very practical. I’m very interested to see how his character is fleshed out in the next comic.

Beast Boy and Raven meet in the same area while they both wait separately for their meetings with Slade. Beast Boy is immediately attracted to Raven and tries to charm her. It takes a while for her to trust him, but she comes around. They make a really cute couple already.

This is my favorite artwork of the whole story. The pain and intensity with the uniqueness of beast boy starting to transform. It’s stunning and also builds up the dynamic of the relationship between Beast Boy and Raven as she tries to figure out what she can do to save him.

All in all:

I really enjoyed reading this! It’s a fun read that makes me want so much more of these stories and I really hope that they do continue this well into the future. I want to see how the Teen Titans assemble in this new storyline.

Series I’ve Started, but Haven’t Finished… Yet.

Book series are like beautiful beasts that seem to just keep appearing again and again with no end. There are millions of them out there, many that I will never ever get to read, but there are also series I have started, but haven’t completed and really need to (especially when I own the last book…)

Anyway, here are some series I have begun and have yet to finish:

The Divergent Trilogy

I have read:

I started reading Divergent way after the Divergent train came and went. Like always I am more than fashionably late to the party.

What I have left:

I’ve owned Insurgent and Allegent for a long while now. I really should have read them already.

Graceling Trilogy

I have read:

Graceling and Fire are perfect to me. I love them with all my heart. The only reason I hadn’t read Bitterblue yet was because it took me a long time to make sure to go out and buy it.
What I have left:

I just recently purchased Bitterblue and I hope to read it very soon I love the first too books too much not to read it as soon as I can!

The Waterfire Saga

I have read:

These novels are so cool! I love the unique journey of following these friends on their journey under the sea. These books are amazing!

What I have left:

I have these two on my shelves and I really need to get to reading them soon! I simply have to make them a priority.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Trilogy

I have read:

Probably one of the best contemporaries I’ve ever read. I loved this book!

What I have left:

I’ve been wanting P.S. I Still love you since forever! Especially now with the new book coming out I need to catch myself up!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy

I have read:

This is one of the most unique books I’ve ever read and I loved it! I’m so sad I haven’t been able to read the other two.

What I have left:

One day I will buy these and that day will be happy because I would read this immediately. Laini Taylor is a master of her craft!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post! Writing about books so much has made me realize how many books I have yet to read and that I will never ever read even a fraction of what is out there, but giving myself to those books I have read and love makes my obsession all the more worthwhile!

Before I go, a mini update on my Kickstarter Campaign for The Raven Book Crates. I got my first two pledges! Hopefully I can make my goal soon enough. There are only 27 days left!

400 Followers!!! What a thing to wake up to!

This morning I opened my eyes, tired, groggy, and not fully there, I search for my phone and open it to see that over 400 people decided they enjoyed my content enough to follow me, and it feels incredible.

As a lone book-lover who joined this lovely community just a short 4 months ago, these feelings are indescribable. A whole world has opened up and I’ve gotten to speak with so many lovely bloggers that it makes me so hopeful for the future.

So to all of you who have supported me in any way, I thank you. Every single individual human being that has read, liked, or commented on my posts have truly touched my heart. I appreciate it so much more than you could ever know.

So, I’ve decided that I want to do a Q and A post. Everytime I see one of these posts I find them so interesting and they are really helpful for getting to know a fellow blogger. Ask me whatever your heart desires, personal, weird, book or blogger related. Anything goes! I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

As always, thanks for reading, let me know your thoughts in the comments (rather your questions as it so happens in this post). Keep being the beautiful individuals that you are!

Celebrating 200 followers! So Many Feels

I never could have guessed that I would have grown so much so quickly. I can’t even fully comprehend it! 200 people, 200 physical flesh and blood human beings enjoyed my posts enough to press a button and follow me. It’s one of the most unprecedented and incredible feelings I have ever had in my life. I am forever humbled by everyone’s support.

This feeling is unreal. I couldn’t thank you all enough. I started this blog on October 14th, 2016, approximately 3 months ago. I was encouraged or rather demanded by my sister to create a blog about the things I love most books, writing, and poetry, but mostly books.  We spent several hours trying to come up with a name and I finally and happily decided upon The Book Raven (it felt right for the poetry portion) and so this blog was born. I tentatively posted my first post Hello World and fearfully let my words be heard for the first time. I told myself that if I am going to do this I am going to push myself to post everyday and with the disappointing exception of not posting for little more then two weeks in November I have stuck with it thus far.

In this short time, I never expected how much support and love this blog would get. It has been such an important boost to my confidence and to all my hopes and dreams that this has been such a source of happiness. This community is honestly the best and most positive community I have ever had the pleausure of being a part of. There are so many people here that I have come to look up to and so many that keep me inspired. I put my entire soul into every piece that I write and it delights me to no end that fellow bloggers have been enjoying it all.

It means so much to me, to hear this communities thoughts. It doesn’t matter if it’s a comment or a post. I simply love reading everyone’s posts. The biggest part of blogging for me is the communal sharing of thoughts. As much as I write my own, hearing others thoughts and opinions have helped me to grow most. It is so important to me that everyone’s voice is heard. Every thought is valid weither it is the same or different from my own.

It is so crazy to think that this is all possible. That you can write your thoughts and share them with so many. The amount of good that could be done, the amount of positivity that could be shared, and the many unique possibilities are endless. It makes me so excited to wonder what the future shall hold.

I want to thank you, dear reader, for reading my thoughts, for supporting me and all the people in your life that you support. This is not just my own celebration for me, but a celebration of you and this community.

I may write the posts, but nothing would come of it if it weren’t for the support from you.

I want to do something special for this celebration and I want to thank and celebrate every one of you reading this, so I want to ask you what your passion is and what you love to do most as well as your favorite quote.

I want to create a post for you, that celebrates you. That is what would make me happiest. To celebrate every person as the wonderful individuals you all are.

Thank you all for reading! Your support is incredible.

Sadness: The Story of a Book Unhaul

There comes a time in life when you realize that you have a serious problem and if you don’t make a point to fix it right then and there it will forever be broken.

There comes a time where you realize that you are running out of shelf space and you can’t buy a new shelf anytime soon.

There comes a time where you realize that many books on said bookshelves are just taking up space and you just need to push yourself to let them go.

Now’s the time when all these things have come to pass.

Now’s the time to mourn and let go.

Goodbye my sweet books, I shall miss you, but your time has come and gone and I need to move on.

The time for my first ever voluntary book unhaul is here.

The purge has begun!

First up on the chopping block is The Last Place on Earth

The beautiful galaxy cover of this book has deceived me. This book is a Dnf I won’t miss (it kills me to say this about a book) it could have been so good, but it burned me bad. I have so many trust issues after this book.

Next to go is an extra copy of Jane Eyre

This is a painless release because I still own a copy. I really need to create more room on my shelves. I have so many books I want to read and not nearly enough room to keep them.

The disappointing sadness that is Go Ask Alice

Another book that could have been fantastic, but the difference is that this one is purposefully deceptive. It makes me so sad that this was falsely marketed for years. The fact that I read it recently and didn’t found out till I was half-way through made me feel cheated. One of the biggest disappointments of my entire reading career.

School oldies: The Power and the Glory & Cry the Beloved Country

These two were Ap English reads that while somewhat interesting to read the one time through, are not books I am interested in re-reading. So, these books sadly must go.

An impulse library buy: The Thief

At one point in my life, I might have been interested in this. It has been on my shelf for way to long and I have no desire to read it.

Unnecessary Series: Mercy and Dreaming Awake

I probably would have enjoyed this one, but I don’t see myself buying the first book and it felt like I was holding on to it for too long. It saddens me, but this book will be leaving my home.

I no longer have a desire to read this series. I only ever got book one and I never felt motivated to read it, so I guess this is goodbye?

The time has come to say goodbye, to lovely homes I hope you fly. Please be found by those who appreciate, your somewhat weird acquired taste. Goodbye my loves, stories that were just not part of my fate. Whether or not I enjoyed you doesn’t matter, what matters is you are free to date!

I really enjoyed writing this somewhat quirky little post. I hope you liked it. Thanks for reading!

What books have you had to unhaul? What was your most disappointing read? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I hope you are having a great day/night/week.
